Google recently updated its Webmaster Quality Guidelines to include language geared to affiliates.

* If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

If a site doesn't meet our quality guidelines, it may be blocked from the index.

This say that Google may remove websites from it's ORGANIC search listings if they participate in affiliate programs and do not "add value" by Google's standards.

Can we add value by re-emphasizing the features of our affilate's products and by presenting them from a different perspective?

That should do the trick.
Many people are using words to re-emphasize the product features to promote it. It actually help them to gain traffic and also earn money from it.

I think it's googd that they're doing it but I don't think it's that necessary because websites that don't provide content don't generally rank well in google anyways.
