I have had good results from the articles I have written and posted on Article Directories like EzineArticles, ArticleCity, etc.

Another good place is to list your site on Google Base. It also is free.

I use Craigslist but have had a problem lately with someone spamming my ads by replacing my link with theirs. Not sure how they do that but it is very irritating. And all Craigslist seems to do about it is flag my adds and delete them.

I place ads on myself, and also use a person to do it. I have found the service helpful. Ads can be placed starting from one classified to the last one in the list, and then continue from the first one on list . Just rotate the post by keeping a long list of classified and advertising websites/forums.
