I do blog. I have a blog and it is my first one. I really enjoyed writing the article for it. But, recently I met someone who is doing very well with his business. Last week he had 19 people come into his business and this is only his second week of involvement with this business. To my surprise, he has never used blogging or article submissions. His reason for not using these marketing methods is he feels that he is not good at it and he does not enjoy it. But, he is doing well. His network marketing style is primarily one thing, posting to forums. That's it. He also told me that he posts to forums almost every day; so I think that this is key. My point is, blogging is not for everyone. If you can't blog and don't want to blog, there are other means of online marketing that do work; just be sure you are consistent with it.

How lucky the person is?
Some people just need to master one marketing method, and they can be successful.

I agree with you work2bfree. Blogging is not for everyone, you've got to enjoy doing it in order to keep up with it. If you blog solely for money, then it becomes a chore.
There are other ways to market your business (http://www.nojobformom.com/articles/tips/website_marketing.shtml) than blogs and posting to forums does help.
You hit the nail on the head when you said that you've got to be consistent. Most people try things for a week or so and quit because they don't see results. Sometimes it takes time to see the fruits of your efforts.

Thank you Tidbits. Yes, persistence is very important when applying a marketing method. I think in part it is why the individual who has done very well by posting to forums is doing so well.
I think the other reason he is doing so well is because he knows how to effectively post to forums. Some people don't know how to post to forums. But, posting to forums allows you to connect with people. In other words, it is a way in which to build relationships. I assume this individual who is doing so well with forum his forum posting knows how to connect with people within the forums. Thus, his persistence and effective relationship building skills has allowed him to do very well.
My mentor told me of another individual who has become a multi-millionaire online by using primarily two methods. He posts to forums and blogs. Again, his success in utilizing these two methods stems from his consistency and effective online communication.
It helps to have some business building skills, which I believe all people new to starting a business need to invest more of their time. Success won't come until these skills are in place; sells, marketing and effective communication.

I don't really make much money off my own blogs, but I make considerably more by contributing articles to other blogs and webzines.
Heck, I have no idea why my blogs aren't doing better :(

Sometimes it takes time for the traffic and money to come in. I've found that different types of advertising works better on some blogs than others.
I've got one blog that I've had for a little while that didn't earn anything then all of a sudden it started generating traffic. I found that Google AdSense was not the most lucrative way to earn money on the blog so I sought out affiliate products that were a good match for the blog.
Sometimes it takes time and tweaking. Hang in there.

It is probably the marketing you are using Freelancer. You have to get people interested in visiting your site.
It looks as if you are starting on the right path. Like I stated in my last post, posting to forums is great. Also, submitting articles. When you submit articles, you should include a little bit of information about yourself along with your link to your blog. You need to do a lot of articles and posting to forums.
Participating in some social networking sites are also useful.
Try branding your name or a name that only you use. Branding your name means that if someone googles your name, all of your articles, postings, etc should come up on the first few pages.
