The internet is always changing. The only thing constant about the internet is change. Don’t spend too much time analyzing the game. You need to just simply jump in. You cannot learn from the outside to truly understand how the internet works, you have to get in the game.
You will never be ready to start an online business. You simply have to start one.
The good news is that the cost of failure on the internet is very small. For an offline business, one must invest thousands of dollars to get it off the ground. However, on the internet, one can often start a successful business for less than $100.00.
You simply must get involved. Each moment that you stay out, you are wasting valuable time that you could be doing to learn skills necessary to have a successful online business. In fact, if you don’t already have an online business, you are already behind the times. Take a chance and become a successful online business person today.

Hello Valerie,
It often takes people a while to get started. When I started to get involved in a work from home business, I was scared. I did the usual thing, lots of research.
But, I finally joined one. After that first one, it gets a little easier to make a decision because you have learned the routine.
When you do decide Valerie, I suggest that you learn as much as you can about marketing because this is the only way to connect with people.
Also, spend some time learning some skills of your own. The skills you will need to learn are effective communication, sells, and of course marketing. I sounds harder than it actually is, but the reality of it is that once you have these skills, no matter what business you decide to venture into, you will make money. This is because having a successful business is not determined by the product, but is determined by you and how well you can connect with people.
Also, one last suggestion. Have fun. Having your own business is a lot of work and responsibility but if you enjoy what you are doing, it will seem less like work and more like play.
I wish you the best Valerie. :D

Yes, i agree with u.
But once started, after some time you feel that your business didn't give you any result. You have the tendency to switch to another opportunities. Hoping that it will give you the results fast.

This is where the BIG mistake is made. Many new business owners think that their business is supposed to give them something; give them money, give them freedom, make them debt free, and so on.
But, the reality is the in the beginning, it is not what your business gives you but what you are giving it. A new business builder is not giving much because he or she has not much to give; meaning they have little to no skills to give their business the things it needs to grow.
Think of a person who lacks the "green thumb" attempting to grow a garden. If you don't know how to make plants grow, do you think that just because you have the desire to grow plants in your home or backyard, will make it happen. No, you have to first learn about planting, then once you learn the correct steps on how to make a plant grow, then your will have more success in growing plants.
Business skills don't happen overnight. If you have the skills already, great, it should not take you very long to reach your goal of having a successful business, but if you are new, then it is going to take time to grow your business.
New business builders, need to invest in themselves first, learn, grow into becoming a skillful business owner and the rest will come. But, you have to take the time to work on yourself first. Jumping from one business to the next, may eventually lead you to success, but it will probably take you longer to get there or there is also the possibility that you may never reach success.
Think of this, if you want a successful business, one of the requirements in most home businesses is that you have to recruit business builders. Well, if you don't know how to grow a business, do you think your business will grow? How are you going to teach others when you know little to nothing about growing a business. That sounds ridiculous. The end result is, if they are new like you, they will end up doing what you are doing and if you are not doing things well, they too will not be doing things well. One must have the proper mentorship or the proper coaching. Only then can your members achieve success and once they achieve success, so will you.

Even a business online can fail, especially if your business is within a very crowded market.
Making yourself stand out is rarely an easy task, but you just need to know how to go about it I think.

Most new business and most people new to business fail. But, the reason is, at least in respect to people new to owning a business is because they lack the skills and experience.
It takes time to get the skills and experience and because of this, most people quit. Many people have that employee mindset that if I am working, then I should be making. That is only true in the employer-employee relationship. This is not true when you own a business. It is hard to find success in business if you keep quitting.

Lawren, it sounds like you have a lot of experience and wisdom in business. How long have you been running your home business? Had you worked online in internet marketing a long time before your business started to be successful?
I have spent time in several kinds of internet related business ventures, always thinking that THIS one was going to be the ONE. I think, perhaps, that I did jump around too much. However, I also learned quite a bit along the way, so I don't feel that I wasted my time or made "mistakes" in the sense that I feel regret.
Now I am realizing I was spreading myself too thin - working too many different opportunities at once and never putting in enough time or focus on any one. Consequently, none of them were "successful" in the sense that I earned a lot of money from them.
However, I did learn and am much more knowledgeable in general about the internet and marketing there. Sometimes I have wished the learning curve was quicker, though.

Hi Arlene,
I have been involved in network marketing for about 10 months now. So, not quite a year.
But, I think that being involved in a MLM helped me because it exposed me to certain aspects about business.
I also read and study network marketing. I think too that the business opportunity I am involved in has helped me to grow quite a bit. I have received a lot of one-on-one training and mentoring from various people in the company, in particular, the founders of the company have helped me.
I am now leading trainings and helping others in the business, even those who are not members of my downline I help. I am also considered to be one of the leaders.
I really can't explain why or how I got to the point I am now. I think in part it is because I am ready and also because I want to be successful in having my own business, I have taken it upon myself to step beyond my fears. I am really a very shy and introverted person, but most people say they cannot tell. Little does anyone know that it takes a lot for me to do the things I do, but I do them anyway.
After reading the last few posts here. I must say I enjoyed the conversation.
I heard the honesty and sincerity.:o
I enjoy the forum.

Hi Lawren,
I'm new to this forum. I have been reading the posts and have looked at your web site, and I would definately like to learn more about internet marketing. The thing that I would like to know is, are you still making pretty good money and can it be done with a very little investment? Is that really all that I would need to pay to get started learning or is there more that will be needed? Will I have to mentor people, too, or can I just do the marketing? I am struggling to make ends meet every month and need something that I can do slowly until I can build enough to make it work for me for good. I need something I can count on. Is this really it? You can email me at mselliott7@yahoo.com

Essentially, you cant just do what everybody else is doing...There is so much competition. When promoting someone else's product, you are just one of the many doing the same thing. Try and find a product that few others are promoting but is still in high demand. You definitely have to think outside the box and dont just promote something because it pays a high commission.

Lawren,
Each time I've read one of your posts here, it seems chocked full of words to listen to!
Funny, but as I was reading this very post, I got an email from Travis (of BumMarketingMethod.com), and he was saying almost the same thing you said in one of your replies. He related running a business to driving to the mall. When going to the mall, you may come across some "red lights", but do you quit and go home? No! You go through them, or find ways around them, to get to where you are going. And with the marketing, we should do the same thing. Just because something isn't working, or won't work one way, does not mean that it can't work another way!
Anyway, I feel I'm learning a lot from "listening" to you, so thanks for your posts!
Grady

It is nice to hear the different outlooks of an online business or business for that matter. I am one of those people who decided to jump in with both feet. It is very challenging to do this when you really do not know the ways of the internet. But I am pretty head strong and plugging along as I learn. Geezzzz there is so much information that at times my head is swimming. There is so much great information that I just want to learn it all at one time. OVERLOAD!!! So now I am backing up and going at my own rate of speed which is helping me comprehend what I need to know at that time. I have been fortunate to have met some great people who has helped me along the way. I recognize one person in this post who I would like to thank! Thanks to all for sharing. I will be back to learn more!

The best way of marketing a business is to first build a relationship. People feel most at ease in dealing with people whom they trust or have some type of relationship with.
It takes skill to do this, but with practice and in time, you will get better at connecting with people. This is a skill that is necessary for both online and offline.
