A freelancer is a person who offers his skills to many companies for a specific project and can work on a contract or freelance basis. The type of work available for freelancers include accounting, translation services, language consulting, writing, Web design, computer programming, graphic arts, technical and business writing, data entry, secretarial/administrative and virtual assisting, Internet and off-line research, and everything in between.

Here are some tips to get you started as a freelancer:

1. You can register FREE at popular freelance websites are Guru.com and eLance.com. Register at as many sites as possible to increase your chances of getting jobs. You might be able to work at more than one project at a time.
2. Submit your resume at each site. Create a professional current resume that accurately describes your skills and experience.
3. Browse the jobs available and bid on them. If you offer the most convincing bid, then you’ll get the job. When you provide a satisfactory, on time service, you’ll build credibility and will get other jobs.
4. Post your services on Craigslist.com. This is a free online service that lists classified advertits. Go to the services section and post your services under the appropriate category.

Once you get a few satisfied clients, request a referral letter from them. These letters are worth their weight in gold because they’ll open new doors to prospective clients that might not hire you otherwise. Develop a job hunting plan, follow it, be persistent and enjoy the benefits of working at home.

If you’re interested in legitimate data entry companies, visit the site below and click on LEGITIMATE DATA ENTRY on the left side menu.

Hi,

I also recommend oDesk.com.

It assures that the contractor (us) gets paid through an escrow service.

I find that some of those looking for contractors are only willing to pay almost nothing but the seasoned employers really know how to pay good money for skilled service.

Try it in addition to guru, getafreelancer, etc... This is just a humble contribution and not a full blown endort fo the site.
