I'm just starting out with internet marketing, and so blogs, forums, etc is really new to me. The home based businesses I've worked at over the past few years used other forms of marketing. If anyone can give me some insight into marketing using the internet, I sure would appreciate some help. The information on here is very interesting.

Hi Brenda,

My advice is to pick your niche and stick with it for the first little while. I find if you spread yourself too thin (over many niches) you lose focus.

Once you've picked you niche, sign up with related forums. If your niche is gardening, sign up with different gardening forums. This will give you a better idea of what people are looking for and have problems with.

Just stick with it and things will work out.

Welcome to the forum. You will find tons of info. There are certain systems out there that I find work the best. Take a look at my signature to see.

Hi Victoria, Thank you for the info. It is very helpful. Another thing I wanted to know is how do you put the link at the end of the post, for example yours has "change your life with a.....$300 a day". That part, I'm not sure how to do. I have a niche to work with, and so I will focus on the marketing part of it.

To place a link in your signature, click UserCP, edit signature, and place BBCode like the following:

[*url="http://www.yourdomainname"]Hello World This Is My Domain[/url]

Remove the * from the begining. I only put that in there so you could see the code. If I didn't have that in there, all you would see is Hello World This Is My Domain.

Of course yourdomainname would be the link you want and the text after that is what you want to call it.

Hope this helps,

I really think you said something great already 'your business used forms of marketing'.

So you have some experience of marketing...use it! Marketing offline or online is the same really just the technology is different. Whatever worked before adapt it, this is what I call hybrid marketing.

e.g. Offline business uses classifieds in the local paper. Use a classified ad to advertise a website. Use a flyer to do the same, using both offline and online. Did business use word of mouth? Investigate social bookmarking, this is a way people pass on good info in an informal way.

Online you want to check out a squeeze page (one page website that collects peoples dfetails for you to follow up), PPC which is the small ads you see when you search using a search engine, forums and newsgroups :), ezines (like the classifieds idea), SEO which brings more traffic to your website, keyword research is important to bring the right people.

Those are just a few. If you are starting it is helpful to be with a company that offers all the tools you need to do these jobs whilst removing the technical barriers. Believe me the technical aspects can tie you down. Also a goos support system is needed.

Good luck and remember it takes time to learn something new. You will succeed if you don't give up.

I am also new to online marketing and am still trying to get things figured out. I need to do more reviews of the e-books I am wanting to market.

I would however have to agree with whoever suggested finding a niche and sticking to it, though my reasoning for that is perhaps slightly different. By choosing a niche market, one that you are genuinely interested in, it is a lot easier to talk about the product, promote it and focus on it. I am actually looking a renewable home generated energy and gardening, I just need to check out the books a bit more thoroughly.

Trying to sell money making systems, of which I have a couple is hard for me since I don't get overly excited about such things.

Find what you get excited about, it makes things a bit easier.
