I am also very attracted to blogs myself.

Blogs can be a great addition for your page according to the search engines.

Blogs has lots of content and search engines loves content.

Blogging also means there are new contents. This is the reason why I am also attracted/hooked in always returning to read the blogs. This is the human curousity.

Search engine is almost likewise. They love new contents too. And blogs cater to such contents.

Have to keep ideas fresh and make the blog amusing and fun. Do not be too aggressive with sales. At least this is for me. No one likes to read something that persuades you to buy something right from the start, all the way to the end.

I've also heard that blogs are a great way to attract traffic to a business website. I'd like to know more about blogs and business sites. Hopefully, someone with some experience in this area will post and perhaps link us to some examples. Are blogs a read-only page?

I am happy to announce that I am getting traffic through blogging. And honestly saying I was not sure that I would be able to get success. After 2 months I have around 2$ at my account only at google ad sense, and the other opportunities of making money will create money for me as well.

Blogs are great because they're fresh and original (if done correctly). Search Engines like original content, which generate traffic. Keeping the information fresh and new get people to come back time and time again. Blogging really works if you are able to post to it every day.

I have recently started to blog on a regular basis. It is too early to tell but I have loads of content so I am hoping for some good traffic from the search engines. I will keep the community posted as to how I am doing.

Blogging is great for any business...getting them noticed is the key though, particulaly if they are stand alone blogs...

Lots of great content has been mentioned and it's a key element...but a good tip is to make up a fair proportion of that content as articles. Then, publish those article on an authority article directory site like Ezine.

Not only do you get traffic directly from the users of the directory but if you also construct your articles correctly they can each be listed highly by the search engines.

The search engines love Ezine and crawl it regularly.

Dave is right article marketing is a great way to advertize. One thing you should keep in mind is that a good article need to be about 500 words long and the content has to have qualilty. Publishing 20 articles is a good start once you have 30-40 you will have massive traffic to your site about 1-2 views per day.

Blogs are nice because as you add articles, the search engines spider you. I find that if you can write an interesting article every day or so and use a site like pingomatic.com to advertise the article, the number of visits gradually increases. It's best not to just add a bunch of articles, but spread them out to at least everyday.

blog is a web site at the end , if you will promote and get more links and quality content you will success.
I used free services blog which is really a waste of time.
to get success add a blog to your web site but you must set up your resources of quality content related to your topic, the most important is to get sources of information.
blog PROMOTION IS EASY than web site but it need effort and time to get success as any other web site.

Once you have established traffic you can see how many clicks you get on a daily basis I installed statcounter in my blog and there are days where I get traffic from places I forgot I adverticed in. I really enjoy blogging and the web crawler loves new content. Ther are alot of techniques that you can use you blogger to generate traffic some people have about 8 blogs.

I use my blog so I can give monthly updates of my forex experince in anyone interested in freedomrocks but I'm thinking of starting anotherone that has information on for traffic techniques and other vetures that I do.

Do a search in Google for free blogs and you'll find heaps (Google also have one and you can install Adsense to make additional income). The content should be related to your website's content - if you want to use the blog to promote your website. Have a look at how other people have done their blogs and you'll get an idea of what's successful.

Yes, if you want your traffic to grow then it's best to post every day. Simply putting more and more original content out there will mean that you are more and more likely to be picked up by search engines.

Also, you should "ping" your blog to search engines to let them know you've updated.

Re subjects to write about: It's best to just blog about what you're interested in. Then you'll post more, and better.

Also, keep an eye on top searches related to your interest. You can find these at Google Hot Trends, also Yahoo Buzz and other places like Technorati.
Including some of these might snare you some extra traffic.
